| 9th July 08 - Edward James Olmos to direct new BSG movie? For those of you who don't already know, it's seems likely that Battlestar Galactica will be continuing after its final season in TV movie format. Some sources say 3 fims will be made but as far as I'm aware this is not yet 100% confirmed. Specifics a few and far between, but I did just read that Edward James Olmos, who plays Admiral Adama will direct the first of the new movies. As a HUGE Battlestar fan I will be doing some heavy research on this and will keep you all posted on the latest news... |
8th July 08 - No More Dr. Weir in Stargate Atlantis
Tori Higginson, who plays Elizabeth Weir in the popular SG1 spin-off, is unlikely to return to the show for season five. According to SciWire, Joseph Mallozzi (executive producer) said this...
"To be honest, I think it's highly unlikely" that Higginson will come back, Mallozzi said. "She did a couple of guest spots last season and was excited about finishing up the Replicator storyline and was very excited about coming back."
Mallozzi added: "Initially, she was a little reluctant, and perhaps she was thinking about her fans. She wanted to create closure for her character, but we wanted to keep the character alive. ... We sent the script for review, and ultimately she passed. We would have loved to have her come back ... I think at this point she's moved beyond the show and is looking elsewhere, and we wish her the best of luck. She did a terrific job, but we will not see her in season five, and it was her choice, and we respect her decision."

| 30th June 08 - Cloverfield 2 Put On Hold I'm normally into sequels in a pretty big way, however on hearing there was going to be a Cloverfield sequel I was skeptical. It was a one off true original, I absolutley loved it (gave it 5 stars in my reviews section). Don't get me wrong, I'm not completely against the idea of unleasing the beast for round 2, as long as they do it right. So I'm pleased to hear the news that the 2nd Cloverfield film has been put on hold. Matt Reeves, director of the original had this to say "The thing that we sort of promised ourselves is we only wanted to do another one if we could come up with something that felt as fresh to us to make as that one did. We're still kind of toying with what it's going to be and whether or not we're going to find something that will be as exciting for us to make and, hopefully, for an audience to watch. So we'll see. It's really in the baby, baby stages. And right now it's definitely on hold until we come up with what that would be." Good call Mr.Reeves. |
